Context: Article in the Times about political culture on liberal arts campuses

Potential Relevance For The Future: This article by Frank Bruni, titled “The Dangerous Safety of College” is in part a continuation of reports on “the recent melee at Middlebury College, where students shouted down and chased away a controversial social scientist”, but more largely discusses yet another opinion on the dangers of the overly PC, coddled culture that has come to dominate the liberal arts mindset at colleges such as this one. I agree with the author, though I found this article in particular rather brief and lacking in information I havent already heard before, that outbursts such as these, aggressively against positions purely in that they conflict with your own, have gotten absolutely out of hand and appear to be as equally intolerant as the very bigotry that threaten our precious liberal psyche in the first place. I have experienced/observed this kind of radical hypersensitivity in the Oberlin community, and fear it’s an issue that will continue to grow given the privileged nature of this campus.
